Legal services in the Netherlands
Dutch-law and cross-border counsel connecting Europe with the Caribbean region.
ZL Attorneys advises businesses and individuals on Dutch law and cross-border matters connecting the European Netherlands with Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba and Suriname.
The Netherlands is one of the four countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba form part of the country of the Netherlands, while Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten are separate countries within the Kingdom. Those constitutional ties do not make every law identical. The right answer depends on the countries and territories involved, the governing law and where a decision must be enforced.
Our attorneys understand both sides of that relationship. We work in Dutch and English, alongside the other languages used across our regional practice.
Dutch corporate and commercial law
We advise companies, directors, shareholders and entrepreneurs on corporate law, contract law and management of legal entities. This includes Dutch-law agreements and transactions with a connection to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom or Suriname.
We help clients choose the right structure, allocate risk clearly and resolve issues before they disrupt the business. Where banking, insurance or intellectual property is involved, we draw on our banking law, insurance law and intellectual property practices.
Cross-border litigation and enforcement
A judgment, contract or asset in one country may have consequences in another. Our litigation team handles commercial and civil disputes that cross borders, including questions about jurisdiction, governing law and enforcement.
We advise on liability, bankruptcy and insolvency and urgent protective measures such as the seizure of assets. We coordinate the matter across jurisdictions so that the legal strategy works as a whole.
Employment and government matters
Businesses operating between the Netherlands and the Caribbean need employment arrangements that account for where people actually work and which law applies. We advise employers and employees on employment law, labor law and cross-border workplace disputes.
We also assist with administrative law and governmental matters where a Dutch or Caribbean public authority affects a client's rights or plans.
Families, estates and property across borders
People move between the Netherlands and the Caribbean for work, family and retirement. Their legal affairs often follow them. We advise on family law, inheritance law, landlord and tenant matters and personal injury claims with an international or inter-island dimension.
Our role is to make a complex cross-border matter manageable: one strategy, clear advice and coordinated action in every place that matters.
